Local-first by design

All your data is stored on your device in a local SQLite database. The local database always remains the source of truth — your brews belong to you.

If you create a free account and opt in to community data sharing, anonymous brew parameters are uploaded to our servers to power aggregated community insights. This is entirely optional and can be turned off at any time in Settings. Pro users can additionally enable full cloud backup and cross-device sync.

Signing up is optional

Open Brewd and start brewing — no sign-up, no email, no password required. You can optionally create a free account to enable community data sharing and get 7 days of Pro free. Pro users can sign in with Google, Apple, or email to enable cloud sync, but an account is never required to use the app.

Community brew data (opt-in)

Any signed-in user can choose to share anonymous brew data to help build community insights. This is entirely opt-in — you can enable or disable it at any time in Settings → Privacy.

When enabled, the following data is uploaded:

  • Brew parameters: dose, yield, ratio, time, grind setting, drink type, brewer method
  • Equipment metadata: brewer type, grinder type
  • Bean metadata: roast level, origin, process method

This data is aggregated server-side to produce community insights (e.g. popular brewing parameters, average extraction ratios). Individual records are never exposed to other users.

We do not use for community insights:

  • The content of your tasting notes or any user-generated text
  • Personally identifiable information
  • Device identifiers or location data

Community data is stored in our own Supabase infrastructure. It is never shared with third parties and never used for advertising.

Cloud sync and backup (Pro only)

Full bidirectional cloud sync — including cross-device backup and restore — is available exclusively to Pro users. Cloud data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security — only you can access your data. We do not share it with third parties.

Free users who opt in to community data sharing have their brew data uploaded one-way to our servers. This data cannot be synced back to other devices or used for backup on the free plan — upgrading to Pro unlocks full bidirectional sync.

What Pro stores in the cloud

If you enable cloud sync, Brewd stores your brew logs, tasting notes, bean inventory, equipment, and recipes in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database. Authentication is handled via Google, Apple, or email. We do not store payment information — purchases are processed entirely by Apple and Google through their respective app stores.

Free trial

New accounts start with a 7-day free trial of Brewd Pro. No payment information is collected during the trial. At the end of the trial, your account remains active as a free account. Trial management is handled by RevenueCat. During the trial, you have full access to Pro features including cloud sync.

Third-party services

Brewd uses three external services. None are used for advertising.

Supabase

Handles cloud storage, authentication, and community data for signed-in users. Data is stored in encrypted, row-level secured databases that only you can access. Supabase Privacy Policy

RevenueCat

Handles purchase verification, subscription management, and free trial periods. To confirm your Pro status, RevenueCat receives a device identifier and purchase receipt from Apple or Google. RevenueCat does not receive your brew data. RevenueCat Privacy Policy

Apple / Google

Handle authentication when you sign in with those platforms. Brewd receives only a unique identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. Apple Privacy Policy · Google Privacy Policy

What we never collect

We do not collect crash reports, device identifiers, or location data. We do not run any third-party tracking SDKs. There are no ads in Brewd, and we will never sell your data.

Data export

You can export all your data as JSON or CSV files at any time from within the app. Your data is yours to take wherever you want.

Data deletion

Signed-in users can delete their account and all associated cloud data — including any community-uploaded brew data — at any time from within the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and immediate. Local data on your device is unaffected and must be deleted by uninstalling the app.

If you have trouble deleting your account, contact us at privacy@brewd.dev and we will complete the deletion within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Brewd is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that transmitted data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify signed-in users via email if the change affects data handling. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
